The Federal Postal Services Commission (PostCom) is an independent authority that oversees the Swiss postal market and ensures the quality of the universal postal service. It fulfils the tasks assigned to it in accordance with the provisions of postal legislation. During administrative proceedings, PostCom considers each case individually in accordance with its statutory mandate and its own established practice.

PostCom also keeps the public informed about its activities and proposes measures to the Federal Council that will support PostCom in fulfilling its tasks. It is administratively affiliated to the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (DETEC).
